HENDERSON, NEVADA — Area bartender Chase Sheldon is feeling the heat after his bar closed its doors for an indefinite period of time. We caught up with him over a brief Instagram DM chat.
“I don’t know if it’s better or worse than being fired,” he told us. “I know I’ll have a job when this is over. But I don’t know when that will be. If you’re fired, at least you can take action to immediately remedy the situation. This is some weird purgatory.”
Chase is finding creative ways to make himself feel at home in his home during this emotional time of self-discovery.
“Staying busy and drinking normally keeps me distracted. But when I’m not working, it feels weird to drink every night. I’m feeling trapped with myself and my thoughts. You know, I sat awake until 4:00am the other night because I tried to fall asleep completely sober? One sec, I need to sit in the fridge and cry again.”
