BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA — It takes an army of professionals with a wide array of skills to make a restaurant flow.  From tempering morale to tempering ice cream, everyone has a role or twelve.  Local restaurant Spruce Alley recently uncovered an often overlooked role, and taken measures to fill the position with a qualified individual.

“What we’re doing is teaching simple deduction skills that our guests can take with them into the big scary world,” a representative of the restaurant told us over the phone. “We reached out to the local Sylvan Learning Center location and contracted a part-time staff of reading comprehension tutors to help guests navigate their menu questions.”

Local tutors have reportedly been feeling the financial pinch lately as well. With parents being home with the kids all day, there has been less of a need for their services.

“Spruce Street’s inquiry could not have come at a better time. I typically tutor 4th grade reading and writing, so this new job falls right in line with my experience,” a tutor told us in a statement.
